Nigerians complain about various places they have to register their biodata.

 

 

1. International Passports
Though every Nigerian can get an international passport from birth, from age 6, every applicant is required to appear at the chosen Immigration Office for photograph and biometric data capturing.

2. Banks – BVN
Though children can have bank accounts, they are classified as minors till they are 18. Bank account holders have their biometric and demographic data captured in the BVN (Bank Verification Number) central database and a unique ID, the BVN is generated.

3. Voter’s Card – PVC
From 18 years of age, to be an eligible voter, there is the biometric voter registration involving the capturing of a voter’s unique personal/physical details including name, address, fingerprints and photograph.

4. Driver’s Licence Capture
From 18 years of age, to obtain a driver’s licence, applicants are required to have biometric data captured.

5. NIN for SIM Cards
Recently, it has become mandatory to submit NIN (National Identification Number) to use SIM cards in Nigeria.

6. NIMC
The NIMC Act stipulates 16 as the age which a person shall be registered in the national database.

7. State Residency
In some states, residents also submit biometric data e.g. Kaduna and Lagos.
