Conditional Cash Transfer in Nigeria – Households Enrolled per State

 

 

  • The Nigerian Government (in partnership with the World Bank) introduced the National Cash Transfer Programme in 2016 to serve as social safety nets and social protection system in Nigeria.
  • A monthly stipend of N5,000 is released to the poorest and most vulnerable Nigerian households, mostly in rural communities.
  • By November 2020, 1,290,494 households had been registered (1,414,983 in December 2020).
  • There is a plan to cover all states by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development by March 2021 (Ogun and Borno yet to be captured).
  • The States with most households captured are Jigawa, Katsina and Zamfara.
